How can I prepare for a PPSC or FPSC test for free?
Last checked 26 Oct 2026
Start with the official syllabus for your exact post, which PPSC and FPSC publish free on their websites, then practise MCQs for each part under time, remembering that PPSC deducts marks for wrong answers.
Each commission sets the test for each post, so there is no single "PPSC paper". PPSC lists a syllabus per case number on its Syllabus page; FPSC publishes "Schemes and Syllabi" for every consolidated advertisement. Read yours first, then spend most of your time on the part with the most marks.
Parcha has free general-test practice for the parts most screening tests share: Pakistan studies, general knowledge, English, computer and everyday science (30 original MCQs today, each with its answer explained). It does not cover the professional part of each post.
| PPSC negative marking | 0.25 marks deducted for each incorrect answer in objective (MCQ) papers |
|---|---|
| PPSC qualifying marks | 40% in MCQ written tests |
| PPSC application fee | Rs. 600 for a one-paper written test; Rs. 1,000 for competitive examinations |
| FPSC test format (Consolidated Ad No. 03/2026) | Objective (MCQ) tests; for most posts, English 20 marks and a professional part of 80 marks |
| FPSC negative marking | Stated for some posts in that advertisement (0.25 per wrong answer); check the scheme for your post |
A free preparation plan
- Find your post on the commission's website and download its syllabus or scheme of test (links under Sources).
- Split your time by marks: for a typical FPSC post that is about a fifth on English and the rest on the professional part.
- Practise the general parts on Parcha chapter by chapter, and read the explanation for every answer you get wrong.
- Take a timed general test mock (30 MCQs in 30 minutes) and, because PPSC deducts 0.25 per wrong answer, practise skipping questions you are unsure of.
- Check the commission's exam schedule and admission certificates on its own website; never pay anyone who offers to "help you get selected".
